Rockford Health System

2400 N. Rockton Ave. (815) 971-5000

Mercy Health System and Rockford Health System finalized their merger in January 2015, creating a multi-regional health system comprised of five hospitals, more than 550 physicians, and 80 outpatient clinics and other service sites, providing care to residents in more than 40 communities in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The new, combined system continues to operate as a private, nonprofit organization, and it’s the only locally governed community health system in Rockford.

Employee partners collaborate in their focus on quality, and that focus has paid off. No other regional health system has received more recognition for clinical quality in recent years than Rockford Health System. Over the past four years, we’ve earned recognition from U.S. News & World Report in its listing of Best Regional Hospitals, with specific honors in pulmonology, geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, gastroenterology and nephrology. For nearly a decade, we’ve received consistently high rankings from Healthgrades in quality and patient safety across numerous clinical specialties. And, Rockford Memorial Hospital has earned the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award six times in the past eight years.

While no other area health system can match our standing in clinical quality and patient safety, what we’re most proud of is the collaboration between our physicians and staff that has helped us perform at such high levels. Recruiting highly skilled physicians and healthcare professionals and investing in state-of-the-art technology and facilities allows us to provide the highest level of care to the patients and families we serve.

Rockford Health System includes Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford Health Physicians, Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Visiting Nurses Association and the Rockford Memorial Development Foundation.

Rockford Memorial Hospital, the largest JCAHO-accredited hospital in the region, with 396 licensed beds, is home to a Level 1 Trauma Center, the highest-level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the area’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and the Regional Perinatal Center. Our organization also includes the Women’s Center, Heart & Vascular Center, and Brain & Spine Center, which provide advanced care to patients throughout the region.
